On Wednesday 27th of April 2022, a ceremony was held in the International Institute of Earthquake Engineering and Seismology (IIEES) for unveiling the National Guidelines and System of “Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA)” project, with the presence of Dr. Nami, the President of National Disaster Management Organization of Iran (NDMO), Mr. Tootoonchi, the representative of Iran Plan and Budget Organization (PBO), and experts from PBO, Dr. Masoudi, from the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Iran office, Dr. Baziar, the IIEES President, Dr. Tatar, the IIEES Vice-president for Research, the directors of IIEES research centers and faculties as well as media reporters. At the beginning of the program, the invitees visited the IIEES Advanced Earthquake Engineering Laboratory (AEEL) and were familiarized with the implementation process of this national project which is unique in West Asia. Then, the unveiling ceremony started officially in IIEES.
The guidelines on “Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA)” has been prepared by IIEES with the aim of improving the assessment process of natural disaster effects, impacts and recovery needs considering the local conditions of the country and based on reliable international guidelines in a framework of cooperation between, PBO, NDMO, UNDP, and IIEES.
