Ashkenan Earthquake of 20 July 2010, M_w.5.7

In the early minutes of the morning of 20 July 2010, an earthquake with magnitude of M_w=5.7 and M_L=5.6 occurred in the 34 kilometers southeast of the Ashkenan District and 22 kilometers from the Lamerd County of the Fars Province. According to the seismograms recorded in the National Broadband Seismic Network of Iran, the epicenter of the event was determined at coordinates of 26.99°N and 53.84°E. The focal mechanisms of the earthquake was thrust with a subsidiary strike-slip component. The event damaged 30% of the houses in villages close to the epicenter, resulting 80% to 100% destructions. Due to this earthquake, one person was killed and 12 people were injured.
